If it’s safe then why not. If it’s dangerous, shouldn’t civilians be informed?

did you mean aspartame?
if you did, it’s because aspartame bonds to blood cells, decreasing their oxygen carrying capabilities. While this isn’t a factor for most people, it can cause histotoxic hypoxia at high altitudes. This can lead to vision problems, poor decision making, or even lack of consciousness. Not good things for pilots.

Aspartame is a artifical sweetner, while it may be safe for general consumption by the public the military tend to be very cautious since any small mistake the pilot might make can result in the death of many peoples lives and the loss of aircraft upto 200m. I would imagine its more of case of what might happen rather then what will happen.
