Do Drugs Ruin the Ability to Enjoy Stuff?

Question by Fred: Do drugs ruin the ability to enjoy stuff?
Question, I need some info. Do drugs ruin your ability to enjoy stuff in a sober state? I heard drugs destroy the things in the brain that allow you to enjoy pleasure while doing something non-sexual such as listening to music.

The drugs I have been taking (not including weed) are cough syrup (overdosed twice), and vyvanse (daily dose since four weeks ago for ADD. Overdosed twice), and diphenhydramine (overdosed twice). I’ve gotten drank around five times my entire life and they all occurred this year.

When people say that drugs ruin your ability to enjoy things in a sober state, they are usually talking about psychoactive drugs such as cocaine, heroine, etc. What happens is your brain has these neurotransmitters (chemical messengers in the brain) that make you feel happy and, over time, repeated drug abuse can lower the baseline levels of these neurotransmitters. This means that you will need the drug just to feel the same way you did in a sober state before you started abusing the drug.

I am not very familiar with some of the drugs you mentioned, but i think that there is nothing to worry about as long as you follow the prescriptions. These drugs aren’t as dangerous as illegal narcotics and most likely do not pose a serious threat.

In some people, yes they do. If a person is only concerned with getting high again, how can they enjoy the time they aren’t high?
