Are There Any Android Os Alternatives?

Question by Josh: are there any android os alternatives?
my samsung galaxy s plus (crap phone in the first place i know) is running firmware version 2.3.5, not even sure if that’s jellybean, but its just, awful, it cant perform the simplest of tasks, the camera cant focus, ever, when i text, it constantly takes me to the top of my conversation so i have to spend ages scrolling, the spell checker is disgraceful, im on vodafone and every time i type “vodafone” my phone corrects it to “cocaine” it constantly crashes and restarts for no reason, it always fails to send messages, i have to spend up to half an hour pressing the resend button sometimes (granted, this could be a hardware fault) and on top of this, vodafone are a travesty of a phone service provider, all i get is lies when i go into the store… im a massive geek, you don’t lie to a geek about his own stuff…
i would love an s2 or s3, however i have no money at all thats why im going to stupid lengths to try improve my already pathetic phone -_-

You can try flashing a Custom ROM, although granted, whenever you change the OS, all the data has to be cleared. (not all the time but most of he time) You can also wait for a Linux kernel to come for Android, but since your phone is so old, I highly doubt any kernels will come to your phone.

Try googling ‘device model number’ custom ROMs

To find out your device model number, go to Settings> About Phone, then scroll to the ‘Model Number’.

Hope I helped!

Ok software version 2.3.5 is gingerbread. Not jellybean. Which is 4.2, have you tried to get a software update. Or checked? You can do that from settings, in the system updates. As for a better phone Sg2 is good and runs ics 4. Because I don’t think they even make that model any more. When they have the upgrade they stop servicing the older cells. And the Sg3 is also good.
