What Is the Correct Medical Name for Joints Cracking When Moving?
Question by nubio36: What is the correct medical name for Joints cracking when moving?
This is a symptom my husband is having after a long few days of extreme side effects to a medication called Avalox. When he moves he is in extreme pain and the bones make cracking sounds as he moves, I’m trying to find this “bone/joint cracking” thing in symptom checkers and there’s nothing so I’m looking for a medical term for this. (PS. Yes we have been to doctors and to ER, we are in Ottawa Ontario so they are doing bugger all, we’re trying to self diagnose now.)

The sound of bones grinding together is crepitus (KREP-ih-tuss) but it may not be bones you hear. It could be tendons snapping. And since 2 serious side effects of Avalox are tendinopathy and tendon rupture, he may wish to focus on these. Tendons attach muscle to bone. He may need to see a rheumatologist to get this sorted out.
