ok so im 16 years old im an atheist my parents are catholic and we just had an argument (they started it)
so my moms neck was hurting and she told my dad if he can perform an old remedy which consists of rubbing alchohol on the affected area and rubbing an egg over the affected area…
supposedly the egg sucks out all the air from the body (or something like that) and when your done with the “treatment” you crack the egg open in a cup of water and voila! you can see air bubbles in the egg white.
i asked them how it worked but they had no answer and i wanted to find out (im always realllly curious about how thing work)
so i hypothesized that if i rub an egg on somthing such as the table that air bubbles would still show up because the egg is being shaken around when its being rubbed on the person or in this case the table.
i was about to perform the experiment when my step dad gets all pissed off and starts saying how much he hates when i act like that (when i try to find out how things work i guess)
and he always says science is man trying to be god… ugh!!! how i hate when he says that!!
we got into an argument and basically he kept saying i should stop being a critical thinker hes one of those people who thinks just cuz people dont know something it means god did it or knows it or watever…
anyway if theres anyone out there that has had a similar experience in which your parents were religious and you werent please give me some tips sometimes they really piss me off but i control myself…

ok well it kind of does have to do with the fact that im atheist because every time i try to approach something from a scientific point of view my step dad always gets mad…
and nah i wasnt giving any attitude at all… i just simply wanted to know why and how the remedy worked.

wth, if his dad told him something that seemed interesting and gets in trouble for wanting to see it for himself then his dad is messed up (no offence)
